Zion Market Popular Dishes
Here are some of the most popular products sold by Zion Market.
1. Korean BBQ
Korean BBQ also goes by the name Gogi-Gui. Here, the meat is marinated and cooked on the table itself. This is because most Korean homes have barbecues set up on the dining table itself. Therefore, you can eat meat as you grill it simultaneously!
Despite employing a lot of the same meat, such as pig, beef, and chicken, Korean BBQ is often marinated rather than rubbed with a dry spice or basted with sauce as it cooks. Pork is a common cuisine in Korea since it goes well with so many other traditional dishes.
2. Fried Chicken
What distinguishes Korean fried chicken from its American cousin, then? The skin of Korean fried chicken is often thin, almost paper-like, and not excessively battered, in contrast to the American counterpart, which is typically brined and dredged in a flour and buttermilk combination.
Due to the inclusion of potato starch in the batter and the double frying of the chicken, Korean fried chicken is extremely crispy. The excess moisture in the chicken from the first fry is likewise boiled out during this second fry. Even with a coating, Korean fried chicken is renowned for staying exceptionally crispy for a long time.
3. Rice Cakes
Korean Rice cakes are a specialty, tasting very similar to their Japanese counterparts. These rice cakes are made with a mixture of flour and tapioca. Therefore, the cakes are thicker and denser, feeling a bit harder when you take a bite.
Since it’s made with tapioca and rice flour, you will not feel bloated after eating a few of them. In addition to being full of nutrition, rice cakes are also a wonderful source of protein. One serving contains roughly 2 grams of proteins and 100 calories.
4. Pork Belly
I often inform such visitors that pork in Korea differs significantly from pork in other nations. The meat has distinct differences in flavor, marbling, fragrance, and texture. In addition, no salt curing nor seasoning is used on the thick pieces of pork belly.
But skinless pork belly, that striated union of delectable fat and tempting pink flesh, whose origins on the animal—unlike pig butt—are clear, is the king of Korean BBQ. Although the Korean variant is uncured like pancetta, it is commonly known as bacon.
5. Fresh Fish
In Zion Market, you can get various types of Korean fresh fish. These include, but are not limited to, the following fishes.
- Sturgeons
- Lampreys
- Paddlefish
- Herring
- Eels
- Loaches
- Salmonid
- Smelt
- Carp
- Catfish
- Minnows
6. Japchae
The noodles in a good japchae should be springy and just a little bit chewy, and the dish should be well balanced between sweet and salty flavors with a hint of toasted sesame oil. Vegetables shouldn’t be uncooked, but they should have texture.
Made from sweet potato starch, Korean naengmyeon noodles are naturally low in calories and fat. Therefore, in my perspective, yes.
Brown sugar, dark soy sauce, and sesame oil are the main ingredients in the sweet and savory japchae sauce. It has the ideal ratio of sweet to savory flavors.
7. Fish Cakes
In Korea, fishcake is known as “Oden” or “oden” (an incorrect term derived from the Japanese word “oden”). It is a seafood product that has been processed, created from white fish that has been ground, together with vegetables, sugar, and potato starch.
When these fish cakes are cooked, they contain the best quality fish which has the least fillers. Plus, they are always deep-fried with healthy oils, making them a healthy snack you can gorge on.

Zion Market Reviews: What Customers Have To Say
Top judge whether this place is a good shop or not, here are some Zion Market reviews by customers posted on Yelp.
Here’s a 4-star positive review:
“Always a pleasure to come to Zion Market. Yes, it is not as "pretty" as H-Mart. But Zion market is an oldie, but a goodie. The deli at Zion is better than H-mart. We like to go after the lunch rush or dinner rush in order to haul in the deals in the sushi area. Both H-mart and Zion do not have the freshest raw fish, but it does the job right to get rid of a sashimi craving. At Zion, there is this one young lady who is always so helpful and cheerful. She seems to have a good outlook on life. I cannot remember her name, but I did comment on how refreshing her attitude is.” By - Frances
Here’s a 2-star negative review by
“High theft parking lot. Zion management and security will not have your back outside of the store. Came to shop here around 2 pm after a half marathon, and returned to my car to find employees had blocked my car with their electric cart pusher (wtf?!). Apparently, a customer accused me of "stealing" her purse as she was loading her groceries into her vehicle next to me. She was very adamant that I was the one who took her purse and I was 110% sure her purse wasn't in my car. I refused to open my car for her and decided to wait for the police (apparently they were called by her or an employee) to arrive and prove my innocence. 1hr later waiting by my car and no police. Waste of my time, and made sure to wave at this "Karen" as I left the parking lot. Long story short, I went to management and security to explain that I was being harassed and accused of theft by another customer. They brushed me off and did nothing to diffuse the situation, probably because this wasn't happening inside their store. Security advised there have been car break-ins/theft here that you won't hear about, so be aware of this area. Do better, Zion management. 2 stars cause I like this particular grocery store, just not the people associated with this location.” By - Arthur
